Nintendo Switch 2: What To Expect

Nintendo Switch 2 is about to be unveiled! Learn about the release date, price, Joy-Con 2.0, first-party games, and third-party support in our breakdown.

Here Is What To Expect From the Switch 2 Reveal

Get ready Nintendo fans! We have waited so long for the Switch 2, and now it is around the corner. This Wednesday is the Nintendo Direct showcase and it will finally reveal this long-awaited console. From new games to innovative controllers, there is a lot to expect. So, let’s break down the most important questions everyone wants to know.

Price and Release Date

Rumors are pointing to a late spring or early summer release. Some reports say an early June launch. If those reports are correct, Nintendo should reveal the release date this Wednesday. Retailers will need time to prepare and we know gamers are itching to get their hands on one.

As for the price, that is a bit uncertain. $399 seems reasonable if one does not consider the unstable component costs, a weak yen, and new tariffs that have been imposed. Analysts are reporting estimations of $499, and if that is correct, will Switch 1 owners be willing to pay that much for an upgrade?

A Possible New Experience with Joy-Con 2.0

Although Nintendo’s Joy-Cons came with flaws, they were a fresh and innovative step forward. We are hoping to see major improvements  with the Switch 2.

It has been rumored that Hall effect joysticks are to be included. Does this mean no more stick drift? Another rumor are new mouse control features. However, people are wondering how on earth that would work from your couch?

Also, the larger Joy-Cons and expanded buttons are another curiosity. And what about the new “C” button that Nintendo added?

First-Party Games

Nintendo’s exclusive games are always the talk of the show. At this point in time, we only about one title that has been confirmed: Mario Kart. However, insiders are saying that Nintendo has a huge line-up ready for the Switch 2.

This leaves one important question: Will Switch 1 games be enhanced to support a better resolution on the new Switch 2?

Third-Party and Support For Non-Exclusive Games

Now that we talked about the star of the show, exclusive Nintendo games, let’s dive into other games. Ubisoft and Microsoft are ready for the Switch 2 console. Franchises like Halo, Call of Duty, Forza, and Fallout are a possibility for the future Nintendo console.

Throughout Nintendo’s Switch era, they have shows support for dedicated indie showcases. Could we expect launches from game studios like Team Cherry and Supergiant Games?

  1. The anticipation for the Nintendo Switch 2 is definitely building! If Nintendo follows its usual innovation-first approach, we could see some surprising new features beyond just hardware upgrades. Do you think they’ll focus more on performance improvements, or will we get another game-changing gimmick like we did with the original Switch’s hybrid design?
