As AI runs much of our digital lives, Apple took one major step forwards by embedding ChatGPT into its ecosystem The way users interact with their devices is about to change radically. Apple is way ahead of the curve.
Apple recently announced that Siri will be much smarter due to an infusion of ChatGpt technology You could ask Siri to help plan your dinner party. Or discuss whether modern US capitalism is truly on a spectrum with feudalism Requests for help such as these are often vague and involve reaching complex conclusions. Apple recently announced an infusion of ChatGpt technology that will make Siri smarter.
Essentially, their partnership becomes more robust and streamlined by carefully connecting the two sides. If Siri determines that a request will be answered better by ChatGPT, it will seamlessly suggest tapping in to the chatbot so that users can take their exploration further. This isn't only true for text requests – imagine snapping a photo of an office and asking Siri for a makeover idea, then being directed to ChatGPT for help and inspiration.
But that's not all. Apple has plans for ChatGPT to be present throughout the entire Apple ecosystem, including iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia. Users will be able to enjoy a system-wide suite of writing tools powered by ChatGPT that will provide an array of generative AI features to help you draft more efficiently, or make your text sound better or more sophisticated, be it an email, a document or a PowerPoint presentation. You will soon be able to tweak the language, tone, style and format of your text with ChatGPT at your fingertips. 5. Apple puts in a lot of effort to optimise its user interface so that people can get the best experience on an Apple product.
Getting into the nitty-gritty details, Apple now leverages ChatGPT's capabilities in context menus and in composition – from generating summaries of text to creating illustrative imagery. This partnership reflects Apple's strategy of bringing AI into user workflows, allowing users to be more productive and creative without the need for third-party accounts or subscriptions.
Until some of the promised features arrive in the next updates to iOS, iPadOS and macOS, we won't know for sure. But it seems clear that Apple has a long way to go to realise its AI roadmap, with promises of expanding support for more – but, of course, unspecified – AI models.
At base, however, Apple is a company that just wants to make lives richer for the people who use its devices and services. With the advent of ChatGPT, Apple is not just innovating in software, but also providing its users with a vision of our future interactions with computers at their most natural. Apple keeps its promise to its users of a perfect user experience: accessible and easy to use, but underpinned by the cutting edge of AI research.
With Apple start to embed ChatGPT into Siri, iOS, and macOS, this is just the beginning of the next generation of digital assistants. It is exciting to see Apple making moves to be the leader in this space again, and this is the kind of innovative thinking I look for in a company with a bright future. Apple is one of my favourite tech companies because they don't just partner with us to make better products, but they partner with us as we design, develop and test software. They have created a truly symbiotic relationship between a human and a computer, and it is a delight to work with. I look forward to seeing what AI and humans can do together.
