If you're trying to make home audio easy, a soundbar can be a great way to level up and add a bunch of refined sound to your entertainment, keeping things simple and quick. When it comes to the best soundbars, one of our current favorites is the SONOS BEAM (Gen 2) – which, incidentally, recently dropped in price, to a truly incredible $110 off, which makes it $389 at Woot! – although again, this deal appears to be exclusive to the SONOS BEAM in the stylish white.
It’s true what they say: you eat with your eyes. But what follows is just as important: in the case of the second-generation SONOS BEAM soundbar, it also sounds incredible. In a bar that measures less than four foot in length, and weighs a mere 4 kg, you are getting some seriously opulent sound. This wireless speaker is perfect for any room of the house, able to elevate the sound of anything from your favourite TV shows, to the latest podcast or Spotify playlist. The SONOS BEAM eschews upward-firing speakers, preferring to use audio processing technology to simulate an aural blob of sound – rather like Dolby Atmos, which is why the company has proudly labelled this model with ‘Dolby Atmos-enabled’.
The SONOS BEAM Gen 2 earned a score of 88 in our full review. It boasts excellent audio quality. The only negative I found, besides its price, was that it has only a single HDMI port, which might not be enough to directly connect multiple devices such as game consoles or set-top boxes. And it won’t work with older TVs that lack even an HDMI input, and instead have only an optical jack; in these scenarios, an adapter would be required. These are minor complaints. Overall, the Beam is a fantastic value.
Sonos appreciates that buying and installing hi-fi speakers can be annoying, so the SONOS BEAM is easy to set up and can connect to any TV or sound system. Prices are visible throughout this article (including any affiliate links) but all opinions are my own. The SONOS BEAM is easy to install and easily blends into a SONOS system: once it’s set up, you can be listening to better sound in minutes, and it easily fits into existing SONOS ecosystems. SONOS has the best whole-home audio set-up I’ve experienced.
The SONOS BEAM Gen 2 is not just a soundbar, but a portal to a whole new musical world. As well as partnerships with major music streaming services including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music, SONOS’ own voice assistant ensures a seamlessly integrated experience with Apple Music. Sure, you can use Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa to do your bidding if you prefer.

The SONOS BEAM (Gen 2) is a fantastic mid-range soundbar, yes, but it’s also the centrepiece of a stylish home theatre system that, for its size, delivers sound that’s light years beyond its boxy design. The Beam’s recent price drop to just $389 makes it a great value now, especially if you have plans to add SONOS gear to your home audio setup. A sleek design, a Dolby Atmos mode and the best connectivity options on the market mean the SONOS BEAM is a no-brainer for anyone looking to up their audio game without sacrificing style.
