As Gamescom 2024 is due to take place in Cologne in Germany from 20th to 25th August, here’s a sneak peek of what’s in store. Grab your popcorn as the stage is about to be set: Gamescom is currently preparing its hall in Cologne, Germany for one of the biggest gaming events of the year. With only a couple of weeks to go, the excitement is brewing as fans worldwide are looking forward to joining Gamescom in person, or relaxing at home to watch and experience the action.
Courtesy of IGN Studio, viewers can expect action-packed entertainment for four straight days, starting with the Opening Night Live event on Monday August 23, and including two full days of dedicated studio programming, culminating in the Gamescom Awards show on Thursday, August 26. Exclusive coverage from all the major companies in attendance, including Xbox, Bethesda, 2K and more, means hunger for gaming will be satisfied with a bountiful spread of deep dives and fresh content.
For those visiting Cologne, IGN Studio’s live show is the centerpiece of an immersive experience, and elsewhere those visiting the cosplay village could dream of dressing up as their favourite character, head over to the esports area for a blood-pumping adrenalin rush, or head towards the retro games area to bring out their nostalgia. At the same time, Xbox’s claim of inviting visitors to their ‘biggest booth ever’ promised a showcase of exciting live demos and streams, including the highly anticipated Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred as well as Avowed.
IGN is kicking off Gamescom 2024 with the first big event of the show: Opening Night Live happening on 20 August. It’s the tentpole of a day full of exclusive post-show analysis that will set the tone for the days to come. The Xbox and Bethesda showcase should provide a good double header on 21 and 22 August. We’ll have day-long coverage from our tent with lots of insider scoops to share on both days.
