Google is set to break new ground in smartwatch design in its next generation of Android smartwatches. There’s been a huge leak about what might happen with the PIXEL WATCH 3 series - including a large-size PIXEL WATCH 3 XL - which could offer a new take on what we expect from smart devices at our wrists. Here’s everything you need to know.
Rumours that Google was planning multiple models of its next PIXEL WATCH have been circulating for a while, and now they’re gaining some traction. Sources claim that we might be getting two PIXEL Watches soon, not just a PIXEL WATCH 3. We might even see a PIXEL WATCH 3 XL – and for the first time, Google seems to be planning to resolve one of the biggest complaints we’ve had about its previous smartwatches, which were that they were too small to accommodate our bigger wrists.
But the bigger battery and the bigger 1.45-inch displays that come with the PIXEL watch 3 XL (from the standard 1.2-inch display on the older version) are indications that this is also going to be a strategic upgrade, offering users with a very attractive design upgrade. A stumbling block here is the bands. Upgraders with older bands are going to have to buy new bands to fit the new size.
The below design render leaks show off what to expect from the next series.Like the water droplet, the design continues Google’s aesthetic ethos and, while it’s a weighty guess, it’s possible that thinner bezel sizes are incoming.
I had that feeling with the previous versions, which were too small; anything bigger than that would be nice.I can also understand the appeal of a bigger PIXEL WATCH 3, and not just because of aesthetics and larger battery capacity. If Google can create a PIXEL WATCH that lasts an entire day on a single charge – something that has been a problem with all previous wearables from the company – I know a lot of people who won’t be at all disappointed.
Above and beyond the sizes and the batteries, the consumer dream of a watch that can switch, as the need arises, between a serious fitness tracker and a smartphone-lite with the notifications in full bloom feels more alive than ever. The OnePlus Watch 2 showed us what a dual-OS strategy can bring, in practical terms, to smartwatches. It is a feature that many want to see in the PIXEL WATCH 3.
With the PIXEL WATCH 3 and its larger version, whatever that might be, Google is finally bringing their ‘wearable’ tech story up to speed. The new devices promise a continuation of the design thinking that Google brought to their smartphones, expanding the smartwatch offerings in a way that promises to extend Apple’s short-term dominance over the market. Design thinking, additional functionality, and perhaps an all-new operating regime could turn the PIXEL WATCH 3 series into a game-changer.
For the uninitiated, ‘Pixel’ is the brand name of Google’s consumer electronics hardware portfolio – ranging from smartphones to smartwatches. The flagship devices from PIXEL are reputed for their camera quality, ease of use and an uncluttered Android experience thanks to Google’s own mastery of the digital backend. PIXEL smartphones and smartwatches are designed to create an ecosystem where the user’s interaction can be as smooth and fuss-free as possible. With the launch of the PIXEL WATCH 3 series, Google is paving the way for technology to become not just smarter but also more inclusive and efficient.
To sum up, the PIXEL WATCH 3 and the PIXEL WATCH 3 XL are more than the next generation of smartwatches. They symbolise how technology caters to the variety in its user base. We eagerly wait for the official announcement and launch. Until then, the speculation and buzz surrounding the much-awaited PIXEL WATCH 3 series will go strong. Will the PIXEL WATCH 3 series live up to its hype? We’ll have to wait to find out. But if the leaks are anything to go by, there is a lot in store for wearable tech in the future and we cannot wait to see what that is.
