Google is back with new updates for Chromebooks to help you spark your creativity and get more done in a day. Using state-of-the-art generative AI, the new Chromebooks showcase the latest software from Google which includes the new Gemini chatbot by Google. Today, we look at the new Chromebooks, which are here to make your work and leisure time more enjoyable and more productive.
Tech geeks are buzzing over the announcement by Google. The new features of Chromebook software and the hardware that’s been made to integrate with it are a revelation. Here’s what they’re saying.
Compact but powerful, the Asus Chromebook CM30 emerges as a best-in-class contender for those who want to be untethered without having to be underpowered. This convertible 10.5-inch tablet weighs less than two pounds and comes with a detachable keyboard. But don’t think this little powerhouse is meant just for reading ebooks and dying your hair. Designed with MediaTek Kompanio 520, and featuring up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, Google promises 13 hours of battery life. With Intel’s faster Iris Xe graphics and dual-band Wi-Fi 6 enabled, this Chromebook is ready to roll with you wherever you go. Coming soon to Best Buy and Walmart, the Chromebook CM30 starts at $299.
HP’s Chromebook 14-inch adds some color to the emerald city of Chromebooks. Admittedly, not as much power as its competition with a modest Intel Pentium CPU and 128GB of storage, but for everyday work it will do fine. Wrap it up in ‘lilac lavender’ and ‘sky blue’ finishes so that your tech toys can match your persona and you’ll be good to go for $249 at Walmart.
Specifications of Google's Chromebook Plus models ‘deliver and exceed expectations for high-end users with over 128GB storage, 8GB RAM, and high quality 1080p+ webcams, truly adding a new definition and experience of convenience to the user.’ Equipped with Google's AI tools and tools of Gemini chatbot, and provided with a year's subscription to Google One AI Premium, the Chromebook Plus series adheres to 'extremely high standards for Google Chromebooks’.
Recommended for power users, the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 also has an Intel Core Ultra 5 115U processor and keeps the 2-in-1 design that we also loved. Available for $699 at Best Buy, this is a great pick for those who want a powerful Chromebook with a versatile design.
For the gamer on the go, the Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE has an obsidian black finish, and Intel Core 5 120U processor to define how to game on the go at a homey price of $649. But the great feature here is that they don’t expect gamers to settle their display quality and performance, so this is the highest choice of Chromebooks.
Both Asus and HP expand the Chromebook Plus family with the Chromebook Plus CX34 and the Chromebook Plus x360 14-inch. While the second of the two offers a considerable bump through the 13th-gen Intel Core i5 CPU – listed for $499 at Best Buy – the former serves as an affordable option at $429 also coming to Walmart soon. Google’s investment in variety ensures that there is an option for everyone.
This is the same drive to innovate that underlies all of Google’s new offerings. The machine-learning API tools, Gemini chatbot, and Mail add-on, as well as the integration across Android phones and Google Tasks feel very much like an ecosystem, one in service to the human mind, extending its creative capabilities and making it more productive. All of these Google AI offerings combine and work together to make your life easier, more integrated – and more Google.
And thus, on that note, let’s bring our whirlwind tour to a close. While these laptops do look like shiny new toys, do not forget that they are on the leading edge of the transformation first announced some years back. Chromebooks in new colours bring us one step closer to a future where technology is nimbler, more intelligent and far more integrated than ever. Whether a student or a professional, a gamer or a geek, a Chromebook awaits to become your new BFF. Google is only going to push those boundaries further. So all of us can do is sit back, watch, and see what they come up with next.
