These days, for every high-end, low-quality device that floods the market with stratospheric prices and inflated discounts, there’s an equally clear-cut case for the importance of a reliable, no-nonsense laptop that won’t set you back a small fortune. And for years, Lenovo have been the machine makers that keep proving the fairy tale isn’t always true, creating pieces of kit that hold their own alongside the most demanding artworks of current usage. Case in point: the Lenovo Yoga 6, a machine that recently caught my eye and deserves your attention.
If you’re a laptop nerd, it’s hard to talk about the Yoga series from Lenovo without gushing; and if you’re a fan of the Yoga 6, the Gen 8 model that I’ve been testing for the past few weeks sits at the core of the solar system. Every year, the Yoga 6 gets a little bit better and this year’s model is the first to come with AMD Ryzen 7000 chips and all-new performance. Lenovo has taken those upgrades and added them to the form factor that we’ve come to know and adore. Of course, we’re talking about a laptop, so we can’t be having real fun – it’s got to have a price. It’s really hard to look at this device and believe that it costs what it does, and that’s what I mean.
Picture a laptop with an entry-level AMD Ryzen 5 7530U CPU, 8GB of LPDDR4x memory, a 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD, and a 13.3-inch FHD+ touch display, for a mere $510. And since it’s a limited-time (72-hour) flash sale through Lenovo, that price is chopped by 40 per cent, cutting the price down by $300. And if you need even more affordable value, there’s a version on BestBuy.com with less storage for a mind-blowing $451.
It’s a lovely-looking machine of course, but this is a case of style masking substance in a very good way. Take the dual top-firing 2W speakers with Dolby Atmos tuning, and a 1080p webcam with an IR sensor and privacy shutter, for example. The synthetic rather than real leather used for the touchpad looks good enough that many won’t realise it’s anything other than the real thing, and the mixture of good looks and fine spec seems a little out of place at this price. Add a fingerprint reader, a microSD card slot for extra storage, and a good selection of connectivity options, and this is a fine all-round 2-in-1 for productivity.

The 13.3-inch display is nothing short of gorgeous, with a 16:10 aspect ratio, an FHD+ (1,920×1,200) resolution and Dolby Vision. The difference in viewing sensation is notable, with plenty of detail and no bleeding around the edges of high-contrast scenes. It’s the kind of screen that creatives and entertainment enthusiasts will notice, and appreciate.
Shifting from AMD Ryzen 5000 chips to the latest AMD Ryzen 5 7530U CPU in the Gen 8 model, you can expect great efficiency and performance – making it a perfect companion for students, freelancers and those in between.
It’s one of those machines where every element works together, both technologically and in terms of design, to make it better than other similar machines in its class. Overall, the Yoga 6 is an easy recommendation for anyone in the market for a new laptop, particularly during Lenovo’s 72-hour flash sale. Lenovo has continued their legacy of providing laptops that have more than their fair share of value for your money.
So get this while you still can: check out the Lenovo Yoga 6, a great buy with everything going for it including Lenovo’s stellar 40% off discount (for now; the offer ends on 12 June). Don’t let this rare price, performance and features combo slip through your fingers.
