A School Tablet & a Mom on a Budget

When busy mom Ashley gets an email from her daughter’s school about needing an updated tablet, there’s only one thing to do.

After Ashley made sure her daughter’s tablet was connected to the WIFI in the house, she made sure the microphone and video were on so she could interact with the rest of Mr. Parker’s class. She walked over to the counter for some much needed morning joe, while the teacher did roll call. It was like any other Monday morning, except Ashley actually found a few moments to enjoy some coffee and check her emails on her laptop. As she sipped away, one of the emails caught her eye.

It was from her daughter Jessica‘s school. She was ending her very first year at her elementary school and was about to enter second grade in the fall. Dear Parents / Guardians,” The email read. “As the school year comes to an end, we want to wish everyone a happy and safe summer. We would also like to inform you of the tools that will be needed for the coming fall semester. We will send out a notice with more details when the fall semester gets closer, but please keep in mind that your second grader will be in need of a tablet that has at least 16 Gigabytes of RAM at minimum and can multitask with ease. The school will soon be giving student’s access to Wi-Fi in order to facilitate BYOD when on campus. What is BYOD? It is short for Bring Your Own Device. Bring your own device is the concept of allowing staff and students to bring their own personal devices into school and be able to access WIFI services.”

“I guess Jessica is going to need a new tablet for sure now,” Ashley thought. “The one she has right now is so old and the screen is cracked. Now that I think about it, there are also a lot of scratches on it.” As she continued to think about how she was going to be able to afford a new tablet for her daughter, she opened up a new tab and began to browse the Internet. She searched for new tablets to shop around and see how much they were going for. “Wow,” she thought. “These are really expensive. How am I going to afford this?” She continued to search for trading options and she came across a website that bought electronics for the most cash. She decided to check them out and found that little Jessica‘s old tablet was worth more than she thought. After going through the process and completing the transaction, she had enough money for more than half of the tablet that she was interested in. Plus, it was on sale – Gizmogo saved the day and school year.
